Job Description

Position Overview

Responsible for day-to-day administration of policies, procedures and programs to provide HR support to business unit or corporate functional area. Assists in the development, implementation and communication of human resources policies and procedures. May acts as a liaison between departments/divisions, all levels of line and staff management, compensation and benefits department, legal counsel, and outside service providers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads and/or supports one or more HR processes including on-boarding, off-boarding, payroll, FMLA, leaves of absence, safety and worker's compensation, unemployment claims processing and/or associate relations.
  • Maintains knowledge and advises management of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Advises, supports, and assists with positive employee relations activities and investigates and resolves employee relations issues.
  • Leads or supports HR projects and conducts HR-related training (e.g., new hire orientation, benefits orientation, safety/ergonomics, HR compliance, positive employee relations, etc.).
  • May support recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt associates with requisitions and job postings.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred
  • Human resources or related experience strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in a union/collective bargaining environment
  • General knowledge of HR principles, practices and related labor laws
  • Knowledge of MS-Office software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Skill and ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Ability to coach and manage employees through complex and emotional issues
  • Ability to research and analyze data
  • Ability to effectively resolve issues using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations and/or laws
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is preferred

Move up to 10 pounds occasionally, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects.

Sitting for long periods of time while using office equipment such as computers, phones and etc.

Fingering and Repetitive motions; such as movement of wrists, hands and fingers while picking, pinching and typing during your normal working environment.

Express or exchange ideas with others through the use of spoken word, quickly, accurately, and at an easily audible volume, and receive detailed information through oral communication at usual speaking levels without correction, and/or make fine discriminations in the nature of sounds in the environment.

Incumbent is required to have:

Close visual acuity to perform detail oriented activities at distances close to the eyes, as well as visual acuity to perform activities at or within arm’s reach with skill, control, and accuracy, such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer screen and expansive reading.

Incumbent will be subject to:

Inside working conditions: The change of building environment such as with or without air conditioning and heating.
